La Cage aux Folles is welcoming new members to its flock. On August 24 Matt Ancil will join the cast as Cagelle dancer, Angelique, replacing Nick Adams who has left the production to join the Broadway-bound Priscilla Queen of the Desert. On September 14 Allyce Beasley will also join the cast as Madame Dindon and Madame Renaud, replacing Veanne Cox who will play her last performance on September 12.
Beasley is best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Ms. Dipesto on Moonlighting. She will be seen this fall on HBO's Bored to Death. La Cage will mark her Broadway debut. Her many other theater credits include Mame, Anything Goes, The Drowsy Chaperone, Morticians in Love and The Imaginary Invalid.Anctil is also making his Broadway debut. He has toured with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and appeared in several outings of Broadway Bares as well as Ticket to Ride, Stephen Schwartz: Making Music and Night of 1000 Gowns.
Winner of the 2010 Best Revival Tony Award, La Cage aux Folles opened on April 18 at the Longacre Theatre, directed by Terry Johnson. The production also stars Tony winner Douglas Hodge and Kelsey Grammer as Albin and Georges, as well as Fred Applegate as M. Dindon/M. Renaud, Chris Hoch as Francis, Elena Shaddow as Anne, A.J. Shively as Jean-Michel, Christine Andreas as Jacqueline, Tony nominee Robin De Jesús as Jacob, Heather Lindell as Colette, Bill Nolte as Tabarro and David Nathan Perlow as Etienne. The Cagelles are played by Nicholas Cunningham, Sean Patrick Doyle, Yurel Echezarreta, Logan Keslar and Terry Lavell. The production also features Christophe Caballero, Todd Lattimore, Dale Hensley, Caitlin Mundth and Cheryl Stern.
